August Is The Sunday Of Summer

Few Months To Go

“August is a gentle reminder for not doing a single thing from your new year resolution for seven months and not doing it for next five.” ― Crestless Wave

Reading that quote,  a smile spread across my lips as for the last many months in the KB Life Newsletter I have asked members of this community, “Where are you with your intentions for 2016?”

August – Sad Month?

augustSummer is coming to an end – you can feel that in the air if you live in cooler climes. August is indeed like the Sunday of these warmer times. Soon it will be time to pull out sweaters, boots as the leaves begin to change colour. School children will also be saying goodbye to the “lazy, hazy days of summer.” Their departure from sandy shores of beaches, campgrounds and amusement parks is near.

Musician Henry Rollins said, “August used to be a sad month for me. As the days went on, the thought of school starting weighed heavily upon my young frame. That, coupled with the oppressive heat and humidity of my native Washington, D.C., only seemed to heighten the misery.”

Not everyone feels that way. Some will miss the “rose” of August – the sunflower. Still more who do in fact look forward to what the new school year brings or the eventual cooling down of the temperatures that comes with September.

With a several weeks to go yet, there is still time, however, to enjoy the freedom that warm temperatures of August delivers. What about you? Is August your Sunday of the summer or do you look forward to Fall? Looking at the “Picture of the Day,” what comes to mind?

Oh, thank you for reading/visiting and leaving a comment! 🙂 Your words were beautiful. 🙂

  2. For us in India August is a month of festivities as there are so many festivals lined up including the Indian Independence Day on the 15th of August. But it also signals the end of Summer and the onset of cooler environs.

I never thought about it this way but now that you mentioned it, August is definitely the Sunday of summer. It makes me feel sad to be saying goodbye to the lovely season filled with sun and memories of the outdoors!
