This Is Not About The U.S. Elections!
Remembering the last time an article was posted here that caused confusion among some readers. They were somehow fooled into believing that it was a political post when, in fact, it was not. As the idea of today’s Tuesday Thought came to me and how to present it – the voice in my head (I have only one) said to me, “Be careful that your readers are not fooled again into thinking that you are discussing the election campaign in the U.S.”
No, this post is not about the contentious and in fact downright nasty campaigning that both the Democratic and Republican parties of the great United States of America are now engaged in. I am sure you will not be fooled either into thinking that things will get better once the Presidential candidate for each side is chosen. No such luck.
Today’s Tuesday Thought© is playing tricks on you as well, in as much as the proverb underlining it is not the usual Jamaican ones that I normally share. Yet, you would excuse me for thinking it was as I grew up hearing it said quite often and would repeat it even more:
“A promise is a comfort to a fool”
A popular Jamaican reggae artist, Gregory Isaacs, made a recording with that name:
Don’t break your promise, no, girl
That you once made to me
Don’t ever use me as you tool
‘Cause promise is a comfort to a fool
