Farewell And Hello New Beginnings

Friends and Readers

farewellAfter contributing to Claudette’s website for almost a year, I have just submitted to her my last article. It is a bittersweet thing, as most things seem to be when we say farewell.

On the one hand, I will miss the incredibly eager and supportive group of readers that have embraced me and my musings here. I have loved reading your opinion and advice, receiving your praise as well as contemplating your different opinions. I have never come across a community of readers that is so intent on being accepting and supportive and respectful of each other and anyone who enters their presence. You learn, as a writer, to develop a pretty tough hide, but I never worried about the reception my articles would receive at your tender hands.

Farewell Retrospective

On the other hand, I know that there is no growth without change and I say farewell to you all to pursue new and exciting possibilities. I leave also with so much gratitude for the range and depth of topics I have been allowed to explore with you—from menopause, to working out, to co-habitating, to my love for my dog. I have discussed social and political issues such as sex trafficking, food banks, breastfeeding, and mental illness, but I have also had the opportunity to be extremely open with you all about my own struggles with depression and the way that has shaped my understanding of what happiness means.

As I move forward, I know I do so having laid it all on the line, and that feels good.

farewellI am comforted most in knowing that the content Claudette provides will never be flimsy or watered-down. You will constantly find what you needed most to hear. You will constantly find it from someone who cares about you. I feel confident that I am leaving you in wise, kind, capable hands, and I hope you all continue to cherish the community found here. Thank you for your willingness to let me speak and to enter into conversation with me—no writer can ask for more.

There was no other way to tell you but just to let her share the news herself. Katelyn Roth and I have never met face to face but when she told me a few weeks that she had to bid us farewell, I knew we needed to hear it from her.

As we start a new month – June – the mid-point of 2016, I am personally sad to see Katelyn leave this community but also know that she will continue to soar in her new endeavours. It is with this knowing that I bid her farewell with deep gratitude for the depth and breadth that she helped to bring to this blog.

Namaste my Sistah.

  • The journey through 2016 so far
  • What has been achieved by way of resolutions, goals or intentions
