How To Reinvent Your Life

Your Cells Do It

reinventThe cells of your bodies do it. In fact, some researchers says the cells in our bodies are completely replaced every few years. “Every seven years (or 10, depending on which story you hear) we become essentially new people, because in that time, every cell in your body has been replaced by a new cell.” (Source: Live Science) Whether you agree with the timeline there seems to be little arguing that change is happening in our bodies. My conversation and question in this Tuesday Thought with Claudette© is, “Why not reinvent your life as often as necessary?”

Since my last Tuesday Thought, I have been busying doing just that with my life. This is not a first time for me. I actually love to reinvent myself as shared in past posts about embracing changes. Many times in the past, the reinvention came about because of bad choices that were made about investments, a relationship partner or a deal gone sideways. Over the weekend, one of my intentions to reinvent myself in 2016 came about with my moving into a new place – one that more completely suit and match my needs, personality and preferred way of living at this stage of the journey.

Reinvent Before You Are Forced

You do not have to wait for a catastrophe to occur in your finances, relationship or on your job to reinvent your life. In today’s Tuesday Thought, I explore a Jamaica phrase most often heard in the context of music and specifically in what we call a “dancehall.” When the DJ plays a particularly popular or catchy song, after the first few bars or lines, he will stop the music and in the voice and style only an entertainer can really pull off exclaims, “Wheeeeeeel!” That is the shortened form of the phrase that many Jamaicans use when inviting you to stop what you are doing and try a new way – “Wheel and come again!”

And as I reinvent myself and I’m constantly curious about everything, I can’t wait to see what’s around the corner in newfound art and entertainment and exploration. Pam Grier

Watch today’s Tuesday Thought with Claudette© and hear how I am again in the process to “wheel and come again,” and why you can and must do so as well before life spins you around. I share with you some tips how to recognize the signals telling you it is time to reinvent your life, replace the “old” cells (job, accommodation, car, whatever) and why it is not a bad thing to do.

  1. […] Change is a big topic for me since the beginning of 2016. It was not a deliberate attempt on my part for ‘change’ to be the frequent theme of posts on this blog. Yet, it has become that and I am going with the flow, as the saying goes. Tuesday Thought© is a two to five minutes video that I make and post here, on YouTube as well as on my Facebook page. In these videos, a Jamaican proverb or saying is highlighted and explained. Did you catch “Wheel and Come Again” from last week? You can watch that here.  The background and discussion on it can be read here. […]

  12. i don’t think a lot of people think about reinventing theirselves before they are forced to do due to circumstances. when we chose to do so on our own it can be an easier transition to something new

    1. Ms Claudette

It most certainly makes it less frightening and in fact, in my case, I look forward to it! 🙂

  13. I agree, reinvention can be equally negative and positive but it is how you choose to approach it that makes all the difference. i have reiinvented myself so many times.

    1. Ms Claudette

  14. I am a master re-inventor…forced or not. I do not believe in dead anything so if it ain’t working, I rewind and come again and YES I #keepitmoving. Sometimes people are in things that are stagnant or even dead and for some reason they just sit there and do nothing. I don’t understand it, but I suppose they have a reason for this.

    1. Ms Claudette

Habit, fear of the unknown, and, yes, lack of self-esteem and confidence are some of the reasons people do not reinvent themselves and remain in a rut. Thanks for visiting Madam! 🙂

  19. Wow every 7-10 yrs am a new person…Whee and Come again…Love it. I have learnt to surround myself with like minded people who have been in the trenches and know what I am going thru…I always break down things into bite sizes and ensure I celebrate those small achievements daily. Its in celebrating the small wins that we will attract the bigger ones. Enjoyed Your Vlog Claudette your energy shines through. You should be on Periscope definitely! You will uplift a soul or 100
