Peace Is Your Birthright!

Martin Luther King, Jr., And Peace

peaceThe winter, so far, has been unseasonably warm across Canada. We have been enjoying temperatures that have caused many to now appreciate the effects of global warming. There still are those who deny this as something “real.” Whether it is real, a coincidence or Mother Nature self-correcting is not something that I am either willing or qualified to debate. Like my fellow Albertans, I have enjoyed the relative warmth to now and today, the mid-way point of January, will embrace the more seasonal temperatures coming our way. I am at peace with what Life, Mother Nature brings.

Today would have been Martin Luther King, Jr.’s birthday had he still been walking among us. He remains one of the most outstanding examples of a peace-loving human being. His words, “Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that,” always ring in my heart when my equilibrium is disrupted and something other than peace would describe my immediate reaction to an event.

There are those within your circle who will have this effect on you from time to time. It could be an intimate partner, an employer or supervisor, a neighbour or a friend. In fact, it is very likely your child, if you have any, who pulls you out of your peace point. What I have learned from my experience of being dragged out of what I refer to as my zen-zone, is that while the situation, the comment or an insensitive action might sting, applying an (emotional or spiritual) salve to the spot will invariably bring me back to centre. As a cure but more so as a preventive measure, each morning and throughout the day, affirmations or simple repeating of “claims” that I am making on life help to calm me or ward off what would upset me.

Weekday Wisdom

Sign-up and get yours!

At the beginning of January, Subscribers have received a new feature that is offered only to members of this community. Every Monday through Friday, a Weekday Wisdom© is emailed to members with the intention that it will help or support them through the day and guide them back to their peace-point. Those who are not members of the community are not left out, as you (if you are one) can get access to these affirmations on a Friday when they are shared. A roundup of Weekday Wisdom was posted last week and today I am sharing the affirmations for January 11 – 15, 2016. They are timeless so you can use them any day of the week.

While not using the word “peace,” this week’s affirmation was intended to pull you into your zen-zone, as you affirmed your worthiness, your God-given gifts and talents, your journey, and your right to want to be at peace. Check each of them out, print them if you wish and let them guide you in the upcoming week. Do leave a comment, feedback or ask for specific affirmations in the comment section below or your can contact me directly. It is your right to be at and experience peace, so do not apologise for constantly focusing on what will make that your state of being.

Monday, January 11:

“With Knees Shaking”

faith“I step into my week, into the world, and speak and be what I understand to be truth. I trust that Life will unfold as it is meant to and what is mine will be.”

There will be moments, hours, day even weeks when you are not sure how you will make it through what is facing you.  There are two choices: (1) try to run away but you know that wherever you go your challenges will follow; or (2) face, embrace and grow through, knees bruised but heart embolden.

Tuesday, January 12:

No Longer Will I Hide

knowledgeHave you ever been in the situation when you felt the need to dumb-down your intelligence, knowledge, abilities or skills to make someone, a colleague, a boss or even a friend not feel threatened? Stop it.

“I will remain humble in all circumstances, having no desire or need to be superior to another. But no longer will I hide my knowledge or talents to make anyone feel comfortable.”

Wednesday, January 13:

stepOne Step…

“Today, I am one step closer to being Who I am meant to be.”
As the saying goes, “one day at a time,” one step at a time, one choice, one decision and you are closer to who you can be.

Thursday, January 14:

runningReady, Set, Go!

“Come what may, I am ready!”

C. Joybell C said it perfectly, “there are two things we should always be 1. raw and 2. ready. When you are raw, you are always ready and when you are ready you usually realize that you are raw. Waiting for perfection is not an answer, one cannot say “I will be ready when I am perfect” because then you will never be ready, rather one must say “I am raw and I am ready just like this right now, how and who I am.”

Friday, January 15:

The weekend is about to begin and you do not need drama. Leave the bearers of “conflama” and negativity to go their way. So D.U.C.K.!

Have a peace-filled weekend whatever the weather in your neck of the woods! Remember to check your inbox (or junk mail if you have not added me to your contacts) for your Weekday Wisdom© come Monday, January 18.

Be blessed and be a blessing!

Claudette P. Esterine

We all are wishing and hoping that my dear! Thanks for sharing! 🙂

  7. How awesome would it be if there we no race, political or religious issues? It would be awesome if we all accepted the differences of one another

    1. Ms Claudette

Some might say that is Utopian thinking and I say yes and so what?! yes, it would be awesome Miranda! 🙂

  8. It is terrible that there is so much hate in the world. When are people going to get that we are all human beings and race does not matter. We need to learn to work together to solve some of the critical problems our world is facing like Global Warming.

    1. Ms Claudette

I honestly do not know when they will Ann but I do pray that it is sooner rather than later!

  9. Laurie L.

It can be hard to find peace but it’s worth the effort.

    1. Ms Claudette

You are absolutely correct – it begins in each and every one of us. Thanks Lexie! 🙂

  11. Wouldn’t it be nice to one day have world peace?!?! Don’t know that that will ever happen but it’s a nice thought!

    1. Ms Claudette

Danielle, even if we could have more peace in more places than we do today would be a wonderful thing! Thanks for sharing your thought! 🙂

    1. Ms Claudette

As within, so without,” the saying goes, Jenjen. 🙂

  12. The reason why I have resolved to always seek reconciliation with people I know I have done wrong or have offended even in little things because I want to maintain peace in my heart.

    1. Ms Claudette

I just said that to someone else. To experience anything you are either it or must first be it. 🙂

  13. You know what I want PEACE. But I don’t know how? I want to have PEACE with people feels me wrong, feels me nothing, feels me not important and most of all people who reject me as their own blood. I’m not comfortable with them anyway. But of course I want PEACE.

    1. Ms Claudette

Whatever you want from others you have to find it in yourself first. It flows from and through you Nicole. We can talk further if you would like.

  14. I need to be at peace with people who do me wrong. There are so many times I want to lash back at them for causing me pain but I just do what a mature adult would do. I turn my back and walk away. I find some quiet time for myself and seek God. That is when I find the most blissful state of peace.

    1. Ms Claudette

Amen! We all can and must find peace through some touch point and that for you is God – and for me as well, except my name for that place is Source. People who do us wrong are most often unaware or unconcerned about the effects of the actions or lack of action. They are in some state of peace as they move along so lashing back is futile. I am so glad for you Eileen that you have found a way that takes you to bliss. Namaste. 🙂

  15. dltolley

Filled and at peace. Thank you!

    1. Ms Claudette

      Much love Diane! 🙂

  16. you have such a great attitude i love that you said you are at peace with whatever life, mother nature brings. here in southern california we have been getting cold temperatures for us which is abnormal considering we typically have warm weather year round. on christmas day it was colder in LA than in NYC which I find crazy. i working on being at peace with the weather and whatever life brings to me

    1. Ms Claudette

It took years of bruises, heartaches and tears for me to get to this place and it there is still further to go. Life is a process and once we can wrap our hearts around that, it makes things that much easier to take in peaceful strides. Thanks for visiting again, Michelle. 🙂

  18. I love reading your uplifting blog, your positivity shines through x

    1. Ms Claudette

Thank you so much Claire! 🙂

  19. LOL I may be too at peace with myself….as someone say I am full of myself because I act as if nothing bothers me, and I smiled and moved along. It is not that nothing bothers me, I have just learnt to take the bitter with the sweet because that is life. Nobody lives constantly on the mountain top and then again that would not be good for you. We have valley moments where we learn strength and that is how I think about life. I try not to dwell on the negative for too long, I look for the positive side and seek to see what I can learn from whatever negative moment I am in….because believe me there is always a lesson to be learnt….

    1. Ms Claudette

Always, there is always something to be learned, something to grow through…that is the whole point, is it not? 🙂

  20. I need to be at peace with my imperfections and learn that being imperfect is more relatable than someone who constantly strives for perfection.

    1. Ms Claudette

Perfection is a myth in my view. We are always evolving. Don’t be hard on yourself, Ana. 🙂

  21. Great thoughts! It is so important to be at peace with yourself.

    1. Ms Claudette

It most certainly is Krystal! Thanks for the visit. 🙂

  22. This post was so nice. There are things everyone needs to be at peace with.

    1. Ms Claudette

Each of us have our challenges, no matter where we are in life. And so, we each have something to come to peace with. Thanks for visiting Maddie. 🙂
